This week we will be talking to Mark Whitacre, PhD, the Executive Director for Coca-Cola TFactor about Leadership. The world has come this far in all facets of development because of Leadership. Different personalities adopt different leadership styles, however, each one of us can learn and adopt something from another’s leadership style and journey.
The guiding principle for Mark in his leadership journey has been to:
L- Listen, as a leader, you must develop the art of listening to hear, learn, understand and ultimately make better leadership decisions. We explore how our listening can be impacted as leaders as well as better ways to help you listen well.
E- Empathy: how much empathy is too much? Often being an empathetic leader can be seen as a sign of weakness however Mark proves to us that it is one of a leader's strongest assets... do you agree?
A – Advocate: Respect where everyone is at, don't compare people and speak up for others, be the leader who cheers others on and shows up for others when they need you the most.
D – Develop: The greatest gift you can give to yourself is that of Growth! A leader must seek to develop herself in all areas, a leader also must create opportunities for those you lead to also grow. Are you growing your people as you grow?
S – Self-reflect: Having a safe space to reflect on yourself and a leader is such a valuable thing. Mentorship provides access to the right environment that promotes self-reflection. Great leaders all have mentors, who are your mentors?
Mark Whitacre likes to put it very simply “ What I have learned in these 40+ years journey is that to live a life of Significance is so much more rewarding that living a life of Success”. Yes, Mark Whitacre said that, read it again. I am sure you want to know what prompted him to make such a profound statement.
